"I was in a relatively severe car accident where my car was sent into a multi-rotational spin. After my accident, I developed extreme vertigo and fatigue to the point that it was keeping me from practicing. It was extremely frustrating that after several visits to different specialists nothing showed up on any imaging or tests, and I could not find any answers. After Dr. Arrieta's exam, he was able to explain to me exactly what was causing my individual symptoms. I was able to feel improvement even after the first rehab session! I am very grateful to say that I am currently no longer having any symptoms, and I am now back practicing!"

“Dr Beau is an amazing Functional Neurologist and provides the best customer service that I have experienced in a while. He has done an amazing job with my daughter Michelle who has suffered from a CVA eight years ago. We have seen countless doctors since then. Before Brandon, Michelle was
not able to open her hand on her right side. At this moment, it completely opens when she sleeps and it is not as balled up in a fist as it was and can relax. He has also helped Michelle’s right foot relax and straighten instead of being curled up, and she is now able to walk with her entire foot on the ground as well. Dr Beau is so patient, very thorough, and always keeps us in the loop. He’s an amazing individual and doctor.”

“As parents of a child on the spectrum, we experienced positive results even after the first session with Dr Beau. Just when we thought we will just have to accept the
challenges our seven year old has, Dr Beau crossed our paths and gave us hope.
Our son has a diagnosis of being verbal on the Autism spectrum, but has vestibular system problems and is a severe toe walker. School is a huge challenge as focussing is a physical challenge on his body.
Dr Beau gets to the root to help overcome those challenges. He truly has a passion to heal the body and is so patient and kind. He understands and explains in detail how the brain works. With the help of his amazing skills, my son stopped hand flapping and spinning! He is also beginning to be able to walk with his entire feet flat on the ground.
After only a few sessions with Dr Beau, our child has the ability to write full sentences all on his own. His imagination, writing skills and ability to balance himself has improved tremendously.
We highly recommend Dr Beau and will forever be grateful for everything he has done
for our child.”

My problems had been going on for 12 years. I started out feeling off balance, headaches, and something I had no explanation for, not being able to walk in the dark. Throughout the day I felt as if I was walking on a trampoline or a boat, listing side to side or swaying, a great heaviness when I stood up, lightheadedness, and feeling woozy. I, also, experienced brain fog, terrible fatigue, tachycardia, intestinal issues, a constant pain or pressure in my forehead between my eyes, and pain in my lower legs.
I have seen many doctors from an acupuncturist to a neurologist and had many tests which never revealed anything. I went to three different physical therapist. One ENT did tell me I had a central vestibular disorder which finally gave me a hint as to what was wrong with me.
After a meltdown one Sunday morning, I joined a vestibular group on Facebook. Not very long after that I saw a post from someone who had receive treatment from a functional neurologist, Dr. Brandon Arrieta. She wrote how much he had changed her life. She listed a link to get in touch with him. I had never even heard of a functional neurologist. However, I was at the end of my rope. I felt like this was my last hope. So, I called and spoke with his receptionist and ended up making an appointment for an evaluation. Taking a leap of faith my husband and I traveled to Birmingham, AL. The three hour evaluation became four hours. Dr. Arrieta explained in detail what was causing my issues. He helped me understand, finally, what was going on with me. I chose the weekly therapy. The results have been remarkable. I am so, so much better than I was. Dr. Arrieta is the real deal. He is gifted in this area. From the very first visit he has been kind, caring, and determined to help me find relief. He is passionate about the care of his patients. I will be forever grateful!!

“Dr. Arrieta literally changed my and my families lives!! Dr. Arrieta is extremely thorough and so knowledgeable in all, I mean seriously every aspect of the brain.
I’m 36 now. However I have always struggled with certain symptoms/problems.
Ive been through a lot! I have seen beyond so many different specialists, and have had so many different tests, MRI’,s EEGs, sleep studies, among others. My vertigo would last for what seemed like days. My double vision was so terrible, and the ringing in my ears was sometimes unbearable, plus more. . I couldn’t even walk in a complete straight line. Especially if I looked at any pattern or anything else, I would get motion sickness. Reading, watching TV, trying to use my phone, computer, anything and everything that you take for granted on a daily basis was completely taken away for me it was completely out of the question. My hands and feet were constantly cold, and my hands legs and feet would turn purple and red which I know a lot of people call Reynards. My heart rate would literally feel like it was pounding out of my chest. It would go from normal to tachycardia really fast. Then around 6 years ago I started having seizures. At first they weren’t bad or often, I thought I was just passing out from fatigue. Eventually, they progressed into severe seizures, and my chest hurt so bad I thought my heart was going to explode.
At this point we traveled to Shands hospital at the University of Florida, and then to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. They both gave me the same diagnosis of "Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures”. Finally, we traveled to UAB in Birmingham where I saw a number of specialists and was given the diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder or (FND), and treatment was essentially talk therapy...
I remember the days that I would just lay on my couch or in my bed just crying and crying because every doctor I saw, the test results came back that there wasn’t anything wrong and there was nothing that they could do. And I knew that I wasn’t going crazy, but at times I felt like I was going crazy due to the fact that the doctors kept telling me there is nothing wrong due to the test results.. My anxiety was unbearable! I started distancing/withdrawing-myself from my family members and friends, because they just didn’t understand… Finally my prayers were answered.
Dr. Arrieta explained in great detail after my exam about what was causing all of my problems/symptoms which turned out to be multiple dysfunctions in my brain and nervous system, including my vertigo and Dysautonomia. Then during the rehabilitation process he would explain to me in detail the reasoning for the different therapies we did and in what way they were helping me.
Im not a very open person when it comes to my medical, but I wanted to share my story to help others. Because there is hope! I am a true testament of the amazing work that Dr. Arrieta does, and what Functional Neurology can do. I cannot thank him enough for giving me back my life, and everything that he has done for my family and I. There are no words to express the gratitude we have towards him. I am fortunate enough to be able to share my story and help other people.”

In 2015 I had taken 3 days of Bactrim for a sinus infection before I started having uncontrolled dizziness and vomiting. After multiple tests with no results the doctors said I just had a bad reaction to Bactrim. However these bouts of dizziness and vomiting continued. So I was referred to an ENT. She tried the Epley maneuver on me without success... although I did use this maneuver in the future with some success. So I knew my inner ear was involved. Still no diagnosis. I was then referred to a gastroenterologist. He did all the upper and lower GI tests to no avail. I was thankful everything was normal but still having dizziness and vomiting. He suggested this was caused by stress and perhaps I should try yoga. At a follow up appointment I saw a different doctor and he diagnosed me with cyclic vomiting syndrome. It was just a name for my symptoms. I was prescribed phenergan. I then started having double vision also. Two ophthalmologists told me there was nothing wrong with my eyes. I did not relate it to the D&V. These bouts of dizziness and vomiting usually lasted 3-4 days but my most recent one lasted 2 weeks. After much research I found that the field of functional neurology may be able to help me. I was delighted to find there was a functional neurologist in Birmingham. I immediately made an appointment and was able to get in to see him fairly quickly. In my initial exam he was able to pinpoint the problem by recreating the dizziness and vomiting. My problem lies in how the brain was communicating with my inner ear and eyes. He explained everything thoroughly and in terms I could understand. He did several days of intense therapy and I am not only feeling better but am walking without listing to one side. Dr. Arrieta wanted to know ALL my symptoms unlike other doctors who only want to hear what pertains to their specialty. He is kind and compassionate in his care. After 6 years I think this problem is resolved. I will revisit this review in 6 months and let you know how I’m doing. Right now I’m so thankful to be symptom free for a month. Thank you Dr. Arrieta.

On Feb 4,2020 I awoke with extreme vertigo and spinning so severe I was unable to walk. Everytime I got up (with assistance) I had nausea and dry heaves. My neck muscles were extremely tight and my left ear felt completely stopped up. On Feb, 8 I saw ENT. Hearing test confirmed complete hearing loss. MRI was done to rule out tumor and other possible causes. It was normal. ENT diagnosed it as Idiopathic Sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I had 3 intratympanic steroid shots to try and restore some hearing. It didn't help and I was still left with vestibular dysfunction symptoms - disequalibrium, unsteadiness, and feeling as though I was walking on a trampoline all the time. I searched and searched online to try and find someone that could offer some treatment. Thankfully I found Dr. Arrieta. I called his office and spoke with Tabitha who said he would call me to discuss my symptoms and explain what he could offer. He was very kind and said he would do a thorough 3 hour exam and then explain in detail what was wrong and what treatment options were. I scheduled a visit and decided to proceed. I opted to do 6 hours of treatment in 1 week so hopefully I could get faster results. All of my symptoms improved. Due to distance I had to drive and the cost of treatments Dr. Arrieta taught my husband how to assist me with some treatments that we could continue at home. He said to email him anytime if I had questions, concerns, or new symptoms. I couldn't have ask for him to do more! Very pleased with my experience and will return to visit him in the future if warranted.

"I came to Dr. Arrieta because of issues with fatigue and headaches. This all started after I had Mono my sophomore year of college. I went down the traditional route of medicine, but no one could really explain to me why I was having these symptoms. My symptoms were interfering with everyday life! I looked into nutrition and made some changes to my diet. This definitely helped some, but it did not solve the entire issue. After all the testing and working with Dr. Arrieta, I ended up having Dysautonomia. This diagnosis has explained so much about my symptoms".
Dr. Arrieta was a life saver! He really listened to me and did not put me into a box. He really understands how the body is connected, and he was able to laser in on what wasn't working correctly and how to address it. He worked with me and explained everything as we went along. I'm now seeing my old self again and am forever grateful to Dr. Arrieta!!

"Dr. Arrieta is incredible! He has given me my life back. I had been to many specialists at UAB, and no one could correctly diagnose me. I was having distorted vision, balance problems, chronic fatigue, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, neuropathy, trouble breathing and swallowing. Unable to tell me the cause of all this, my previous doctors attempted to treat my symptoms. But nothing worked. I was really feeling hopeless, because I was rapidly losing the ability to do my job or be the kind of mom I have always been.
Then, I came to see Dr. Arrieta, and he quickly won my confidence. We spent hours together during my first visit as he assessed my health from head to toe. He put my symptoms together like a jigsaw puzzle. He quickly realized that I have Dysautonomia. By the end of the first visit, he knew exactly which parts of my brain needed to be rehabilitated in order to get my autonomics working properly again. Dr. Arrieta's approach is different from most doctors. Instead of treating symptoms, he works to get to the root of the problem and resolves it.
He is a master at rehabilitating things that other doctors believe cannot be rehabilitated. As of writing this review, I'm 10 weeks into rehab with Dr. Arrieta. Of the eight symptoms, seven are now completely gone! I am now able to do my job, and I can truly say I am enjoying life again! Hopefully with just a few more weeks of rehab we will have this last symptom fully resolved.
If you are suffering and can't get answers, do not hesitate, you need him in your life! If you know that you have dysautonomia, then you are probably under the impression that you just have to manage it and live with it. PLEASE do not accept that as your fate without visiting Dr. Arrieta!! "
